Company history
TimesUpKidz was created in 2008 by Rain City Digital LLC, a Seattle-based business
owned and run by Justin Magaram. Justin is a 10-year Microsoft veteran with expertise

personal frustrations with trying to ensure that his boys did not spend too much
time in front of the computer.
Television and media coverage
Overview
TimesUpKidz is incredibly simple and easy-to-use software for Windows that helps
parents enforce time limits on their kids' computer use. TimesUpKidz is not
cluttered with features parents won't need. It is designed to be intuitive and
instantly usable by parents without any training or user manuals.
Most parents can get it up and running in their home in 10 minutes or less.
Benefits
- Prevents kids from wasting excessive time playing video games, instant messaging,
and browsing the Internet
- Eliminates power struggles between parents and their children about
computer time
- Reduces risk of computer addiction
- Helps parents enforce consistent rules
- By spending less time in front of a computer, children will have more time for wholesome
activities such as reading, playing outside, exercise, and interacting with friends
- Reduces risk of repetitive strain injuries by requiring regular breaks and limiting
overall computer use
- Ensures siblings share the computer fairly without arguments
- Helps kids get enough sleep by blocking computer use late at night
- Allows parents to "lock" the computer until homework, chores, or other
expectations are met
Features
- Limit total hours/minutes of computer usage per day, e.g. 30 minutes per day during
on school days, and 1 hour per day on the weekend
- Limit total hours of computer usage per week, e.g. 20 hours per week but not
more than 4 hours in any one day. This option gives older kids more freedom to
choose when to use their available time than a daily limit.
- Limit amount of time the computer can be used at one sitting, e.g. no more than
1 hour at a time with a 30 minute break between sessions
- Limit the hours of the day the computer can be used, e.g. not later than 8pm at
night
- Set separate weekday vs. weekend limits, or customize each day of the week
- Set different time limits for each child
- Parents can easily make exceptions by adding or removing time on any particular
day
- Password protected. Tech-savvy kids can't bypass the time limits because it
integrates with Windows security.
